THE QUICK-START RULEBOOK Common partnership version with two jokers. House rules can vary!

Trick = one card from each player.

Trump = the suit that beats other suits.

Goal = finish with the most team points.

  1. Find your teammate

    Four players, two teams. Partners sit opposite. Shuffle 52 cards plus two different jokers: Big Blooper and Little Blooper. Play clockwise.

  2. Deal down, then back up

    Deal 13 cards each, then 12 next hand, down to 1. Repeat the 1-card hand, then climb back to 13: 26 hands. Rotate dealers. Flip the next undealt card for trump. A flipped joker means no trump; swap any joker in a hand for an undealt card.

  3. Make your call

    Starting left of the dealer, everyone bids once: pass (zero), a number below the hand size, or “board” for every trick. Add partners’ number bids. Your team wants at least that many tricks. Everyone passes? The next dealer redeals.

  4. Win some tricks

    Highest bidder starts; first bidder wins number ties, last wins board ties. Follow the first card’s suit if you can; otherwise play anything. Highest trump wins, or highest card in the starting suit. Winner leads next. Aces are high; twos low.

  5. Know your supercards

    Big Blooper beats Little Blooper, then the trump ace. Leading Big makes everyone play their highest trump; Little demands their lowest. No trumps? Discard anything. Don’t lead trump until it’s been played on an earlier trick, unless you bid board.

  6. Count your points

    Meet your team’s bid: earn 5 per trick bid + 1 per extra. Fall short: lose 5 per trick bid. Example: bid 4, win 5 = 21 points; win 3 = −20.
